What is SceneExchange?
SceneExchange is an online community that brings vehicle owners and collision repair shops together in an insurer-sponsored marketplace. SceneExchange is the alternative to a DRP— there is no contract between the insurer and the collision shop, no mandated software or estimating platform—in fact, no estimating platform needed at all!
SceneExchange is driven by feedback from vehicle owners in the local community. Vehicle owners that have done business with SceneExchange registered shops leave a rating and comments about the shop’s work for others in the community to view and consider when selecting a collision repair shop for their needs. This virtual word-of-mouth from the community, combined with the shop’s proposal on the number of calendar days needed to complete the job (based on the independent appraisal), are what vehicle owners will consider when choosing a collision repair shop.
What does a proposal mean? Is it by price?
No! If a shop chooses to place a proposal for a job, the shop will list the number of calendar days they require to complete the job. Calendar days means every day is up for consideration—holidays and weekends too. For example, if a shop lists seven days on a Tuesday, we will count Saturday and Sunday as two of those seven days. But that's one of the benefits of SceneExchange. Jobs aren't restricted to the typical, "drop off on Monday, deliver on Friday" routine. If a shop has capacity to start a job on Wednesday, they can respond that way—shops control their own throughput using SceneExchange.
What does SceneExchange cost shops to submit a proposal?
Nothing! SceneExchange is free to register—and to submit proposals on as many jobs as you'd like.
Who receives a copy of the damage appraisal on the vehicle?
Once our independent appraiser has completed the damage appraisal and posted it to SceneExchange, we will notify the vehicle owner and the insurance company by email. The estimate and any digital photos taken will be available on SceneExchange for these users to retrieve and/or print.
How long will collision repair shops have to make a proposal on a vehicle repair?
The proposal submission time for repair jobs is between 24 and 36 hours from submission of the damage appraisal to SceneExchange, depending on the time of submission.
Why does the vehicle owner need to leave feedback on the shop?
SceneExchange is an online community, and, like any community, it is stronger when the members of the community participate. The vehicle owner’s feedback on his or her experience is valuable information to other members of the community who are in the process of selecting a collision repair shop to perform repairs on their vehicles because it is tied to an actual repair experience. Feedback helps other users select quality collision repair shops to meet their repair needs.
